Bernard T. Shields
Bernard T. Shields is M&T Bank’s Regional President for the Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Markets. He has served in this position since May of 2019. Responsibilities include managing new business efforts, underwriting, and management of the Middle Market and Commercial Real Estate banking relationships in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Markets. He is also responsible for coordinating strategy with various business lines including Retail, Business Banking, and Wealth Advisory.
Previously Mr. Shields served as Group Manager of the Commercial Real Estate Team for the Greater Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey Markets. He has been with M&T Bank for over 17 years, and has nearly 25 years of experience in banking.
Currently Mr. Shields serves on the Boards of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center and the Philadelphia Police Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s University and a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University. Mr. Shields resides in Ivyland, Pa with his wife, Elena, and his four children, Rachel, Bernadette, Anna, and Joseph.
