Darrel A. German
Darrel German has over 15 years of banking experience and 27 years of service in the United States Army. He is currently Senior Vice President, Philadelphia Commercial Lending/Retail Group at TD Bank N.A. He is currently responsible for the Commercial Lending Group for the Philadelphia Region with a portfolio size of $300MM. He also assists in the oversight of 14 retail stores that equal a deposit base of $2.3B. Darrel joined TD Bank through the Commerce Bank acquisition in 2007 as a commercial lender. He was awarded 2007 Commercial Lender of the Year and continues to be identified as a top performer.
Previous to working at TD Bank, Darrel was Executive Vice President / Chief Financial Officer at Mikissack & Mikissack LLC, the oldest African American owned architectural firm in the United States. He provided leadership in the areas of finance and operations which substantially increased the company’s profitability. Darrel’s banking career started with Bank of America in the Consumer Lending Group. He went on to start the Residential Lending Department for United Bank of Philadelphia, where he transitioned to commercial lending. Darrel was recruited by Mellon Bank’s Commercial Lending Group where he continued to have success. After pursuing a brief career in pharmaceutical sales with Glaxo Smith Kline as a Senior Sales Representative, he was lured back to commercial lending by Citizens Bank.
Darrel has a long and decorated military career with the US Army and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In September of 2002, Darrel served a tour in Iraq to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. His unit was sent aboard in March of 2003 to begin a mission in civil military operations. Darrel served as an Operations Officer and was charged with managing eleven concurrent missions during the year long deployment. In addition to professional and military achievement, Darrel is a strong supporter of the greater community. He serves as Vice Chairman of the YMCA Corporate Board, Board Member of American Diabetes of Philadelphia, and Co Chairman of Mayor Nutter Summer Splash Campaign, to name a few of his contributions. Darrel earned a BS from Cheyney University and is a graduate of the Combined Arms Staff Service and a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
