Replacement of Computers in Local Districts

The Police Department has approximately 1,500 PCs in use, 240 of which need to be replaced immediately. Because of the wear and tear on this critical equipment, utilized by dozens of street officers 24 hour a day, the Department has prioritized replacement equipment to be located in neighborhood district houses.

The Foundation is hopeful that local businesses, firms and organizations throughout the city would “sponsor” the purchase of one or more computers for their neighborhood police district, thus helping to make their own community’s officers more effective in identifying patterns of crime, combating crime and apprehending criminals. Each computer costs $1,200.
