Philadelphia Mayor-elect James Kenney used the Philadelphia Police Foundation’s November 11 Board of Directors meeting to announce his selection of Philadelphia Police Department First Deputy Police Commission as the city’s new Police Commissioner when the Kenney administration takes office in January.

A press conference with Philadelphia area media took place following the Board meeting at the studios of KYW radio and television in Center City. Ross is an Ex Officio on the Foundation’s Board.

“I am pleased to tell you that Rich Ross will be our next Police Commissioner,” Kenney said. “I know he will continue to appreciate the active support of the Philadelphia community, especially the dedicated support the department gets from the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Foundation.”

Foundation President Maureen Rush congratulated Ross and pledged the Foundation’s continued support to provide the Police Department with funding for equipment, training and programs not included in the city’s budgets.
