More than 550 business leaders, Philadelphia Police Department Commanders and Officers, community members, and elected officials came together to celebrate the power of partnership. We shared a solemn, deeply moving, moment as we presented the 2026 Extraordinary Act of Courage Award posthumously to Sergeant James O’Connor. Sgt. O’Connor served the Philadelphia Police Department with unwavering dedication, ultimately making the supreme sacrifice when he was killed in the line of duty in March 2020. It was an honor to have Terri and the O’Connor family on stage to accept this award on Jim’s behalf, surrounded by the warmth and recognition they so deeply deserve. We hold the memory of Jim’s sacrifice close, and we are incredibly grateful for the lasting impact he made on our city.

We were also honored to present the 2026 Founders Award to Wawa, in appreciation for their commitment to the women and men of the Philadelphia Police Department. Wawa’s CEO, Chris Gheysens, was on hand to accept the award, representing Wawa’s incredible corporate citizenship and long-standing partnership with the PPD. Their exceptional support of the Philadelphia Police Foundation spans critical initiatives including our COPS Scholarship Fund, Police Appreciation Days, Mental Health and Wellness programs, and Run for Blue.
