Funding as a Force for Good

The reason I have served on the Board of Directors for the PPF for over 17 years is simple. The men and women of the PPD give their ALL, day in and day out, to make Philadelphia the safest possible city. And safety is the cornerstone of making Philly a world-class city! Also, the collective commitment of every single Board member, our Mission, commitment to fiduciary responsibility, and great passion to serve ’the thin blue line,’ is inspirational, and my service in this respect is one of the proudest accomplishments of my career - and life.

Serving on the PPF Board of Trustees is deeply personal to me because I care about the safety and strength of the communities that make Philadelphia home. It’s about partnership and progress - supporting the men and women who serve our city is critical. We all benefit when the right resources, training, and community programs are in place. Being able to contribute my time and energy alongside other civic and business leaders who share that commitment is incredibly meaningful.

Supporting the Philadelphia Police Foundation is all about effective community policing. PPF helps fill gaps in the police budget and provides our community officers with the tools and resources they desperately need. By supporting officer mental and physical wellness, by advancing much-needed equipment and technology, and by engaging our city youth with mentorship opportunities, we build a trusted community police force that relies on a partnership and relationships, not on the intensity of their enforcement.

PPF funding has truly transformed our team and the impact we’re able to make. Five years ago, we approached the Police Foundation with an idea for the city’s first-ever Shop with a Cop event. Nothing like it had been done before, but the Foundation believed in the mission and partnered with us. Since then, we’ve built a meaningful, hands-on relationship supporting officers and strengthening our community. Their support goes far beyond dollars—impacting hundreds of kids each year and giving officers the chance to connect in a positive, personal way. Thanks to the Foundation, Shop with a Cop has grown from 150 kids in 2020 to 591 in 2025.
