Mounted Units

The PPD’s Mounted Unit horses are aging out rapidly with a vital need for younger, more agile equines for the Unit. The PPF stepped in to fund two (2) new horses who arrived in late 2022 and two (2)  additional horses arriving in the Spring of 2023. In 2023 the PPF will help provide another two (2) additional horses — making a total of six (6) new horses provided to the PPD’s Mounted Unit in the past 12 months.

The Mounted Unit is vital for big events, community relations, crowd control needs and added patrols throughout all areas of the city.
