Shop with a Cop

The Philadelphia Police Department is excited to once again coordinate the annual “Shop with a Cop” event. Thanks to the generous donations of Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation and the Philadelphia Police Foundation, over 300 children from across Philadelphia will each receive a $125 Walmart gift card to purchase holiday gifts. The children all come from underserved neighborhoods in Philadelphia, as well as kids chosen by local Philadelphia PAL Centers.

Shop with a Cop is a national program pairing police officers with children to afford them a better Christmas. The program promotes synergy and partnership between the police and the communities they serve and helps foster a positive relationship between police and our precious children. The program, spearheaded by the Philadelphia Police Department began here in 2021 and includes a member of each PPD Patrol District and a group of children within the district to shop together for the holidays to foster positive relationships between the police and the children in the neighborhoods they serve. Participating police officers have volunteered their own time to support this program will be in full uniform, which they enhanced with some unique holiday styles.

The event kicks off with a program featuring Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw and Santa Claus on-site and from there its all about shopping and smiles! This event has become a December tradition that the PPF intends to continue supporting annually.
