Shop with a Cop
The Philadelphia Police Department is excited to once again coordinate the annual “Shop with a Cop” event. Thanks to the generous donations of the Philadelphia Police Foundation, the M&T Charitable Foundation, Kyle Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes Foundation, Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation, and Walmart, 500 children will each receive a $150 Walmart gift card to purchase holiday gifts. The children all come from families in need across Philadelphia.
Shop with a Cop is a national program pairing police officers with children to afford them a better Christmas. The program promotes synergy and partnership between the police and the communities they serve and helps foster a positive relationship between police and our precious children. The program, spearheaded by the Philadelphia Police Department began here in 2021 and includes a member of each PPD Patrol District and a group of children within the district to shop together for the holidays to foster positive relationships between the police and the children in the neighborhoods they serve. Participating police officers have volunteered their own time to support this program will be in full uniform, which they enhanced with some unique holiday styles.
The 2024 Shop with a Cop event will kick off with a program featuring Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel and Santa Claus on-site at Walmart and from there it’s all shopping and smiles! This event has become a December tradition that PPF intends to continue supporting annually.
For families in need who are interested in participating in this year’s Shop with a Cop taking place on December 13, 2024, please contact the Community Relations Officer in the Philadelphia Police District in which you live.
